At the annual awards ceremony of the Second AFA Innovation Week in May 2019, Nutanix was awarded the Women in Technology – Initiative 2019 award. The main AFA Weekly Innovation ceremony was held on Friday, 24th May at the Privrednik Club in Belgrade, and our company won this prestigious achievement for the scholarship program awarded to female students of software engineering and computer science in the US, UK, India, and Serbia.
Since Nutanix has been operating in Serbia for just over half a year, this recognition becomes more important. One of the primary goals of our company in the domestic market is to help to promote gender equality in IT and to break the harmful prejudices that “girls are not for IT”. According to Eurostat data for the current year, the share of women in the information technology field in Serbia is 19 percent, so there is a long way ahead of Nutanix and the whole society towards establishing equal opportunities for both genders.
Over 70 speakers from Serbia, Israel, Australia, Uruguay, and other countries took part in the second AFA Innovation Week. Besides Nutanix, the awards were given to the most successful companies and individuals in several categories, and a six-member jury gave awards to mBrainTrain for the most innovative R&D company, to Institute of Physics, Belgrade for the most innovative R&D institute, to ESENSA for the most innovative environmental project, etc.
